Online reiki training

A question that often is asked by people is can you get Online reiki training or do you have to attend a reiki course in person?

This is a topic of great discussion on line. Many people will say that Online reiki training is not possible and it has to be done in a classroom situation. I hope to answer some of the questions that I have been asked in this article.

Can you be certified in reiki through online training?

Are there online reiki training courses?

The answer is yes there are. There are a number of courses online that you can undertake that will certify you as a reiki level 1, reiki level 2 or reiki master.  These are self study courses which may also include a forum area where you can ask questions or discuss topics. These courses will normally allow you to download a reiki training manual which will give you information about the reiki levels.

So is an online reiki training course better or worse thank a face to face?

Ok let’s get to the nuts and bolts of the situation. Both reiki trainings serve a purpose. For me an online course can help you get the fundamental skills that you need to understand. The background information.  An offline course is important as it gives you the hands on skills, shows you tips and tricks and allows you to interact. But sometimes it just does not give you the in depth knowledge that you may be looking for.

So for me both the online reiki training and offline reiki training are useful.  Ideally before you invest $200/€250 for a course try out an online course and see what you think.

Are online reiki training courses recognised?

Ah I’m glad you asked me that. As such there is no major or accredited certification body for Reiki. That is there is no reiki university. However there are federations and associations. Now herein lies the problem. In order to get insurance for your practice many insurers will:

  • give discounts for those who are a member of an association
  • most associations will only give membership to those who have completed a face to face reiki training

So you are now left with an issue. Do you invest in online reiki training or do you decide to go face to face.

My honest thoughts are try out an online reiki training course and see what you think of it. You’ll get a lot more material than on an offline training course.  Study that material, get an interest for it and then decide to go to a face to face training session.
