Animal reiki – does it work for them to?

During my reiki studies I found out that reiki can be used in so many different situations.  It is not just a healing therapy for humans, but you can also give animals reiki.

The first thing you should understand about animal reiki is that it works. Believe it or not!  One of the reasons is that animals enjoy heat and warmth and attention. Thus when a human gives them more of this they are naturally drawn to it.

What can animal reiki treat?

Like humans animal reiki can be used to treat many issues an animal has. For me the greatest thing it can do is to calm an animal down who may be in pain.  Of course like traditional reiki you should never use reiki as a sole cure.  Therefore if your animal or pet is on medication you should not get them to stop taking the medication in favour of animal reiki.  Like other forms of reiki it is a complimentary healing that works in conjunction with what your vet has recommended

How is animal reiki performed?

Animal reiki is performed like any other form of reik. The reiki practitioner will place their hands over the animal and allow the reiki energy to flow through them to the animal.  There is nothing different in how the reiki is administered.

Of course one thing that needs to be watched is that the animal is calm or perhaps even asleep. With animals such as dogs and larger animals waiting for them to be relaxed or a sleep is easier – obviously reiki will not be as effective in animals if you have to run around the garden after them!
