Reiki massage – what is it?

As a practitioner of reiki I am often asked if  about reiki massage or not. To be honest from my reiki practitioner training I was always told that reiki in its purest form involves no physical contact.  I abide by that thought very carefully.

But is there such a thing as reiki massage?

Again from what I have learned about Reiki it is an hands off therapy. However it can be used in combination with massage, thus I believe the term reiki massage was born.

Reiki massage would thus be a combination of calling on the universal energy to pass pure energy through the hands of the reiki healer who would then physically touch the person and massage.

Once way that reiki can help the massage therapist is by allowing them to sense where there may be blocked energy channels and then allowing them to concentrate on those areas.  I have found that I can often sense the problem areas that people are having my simply gliding my hands over their body until I feel a change in energy.  A good reiki healer will always tell the client that they are going to or may touch them during a session. This is essential if the healer is going to undertake any form of massage.  If the healer does not ask for permission it can lead to problems.

If a person offers reiki massage to you ask them to confirm exactly what type of reiki and what type of massage you will be receiving.  Always ensure that you give the person permission to touch you as this will make life easier for everyone.

Remember as such there is no pure reiki massage however there is the giving or reiki combined with a massage technique
